Pokémon TCG Pocket is a mobile adaptation of the classic trading card game, developed by Creatures Inc. and DeNA, and published by The Pokémon Company.

As a long-time Pokémon fan, I was eager to dive in. The app lets you collect digital cards, make decks, and battle others. Pokémon TCG Pocket is free-to-play and a charming game for fans.

The core gameplay involves building decks and battling. However, TCG Pocket uses 20-card decks, unlike the standard 60-card decks. These decks consist of Pokémon and Trainer Cards. Energy cards are not needed for games in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The game has an Energy Zone that automatically generates Energy once per turn. Energy is not generated if it is not used during the Pokémon Checkup phase between turns. Energy discarded through attacks, retreat costs, or Trainer Card effects is permanently gone.

You draw five cards to begin a battle, then you put your Active Pokémon and up to three Benched Pokémon on the field. Additionally, you can instruct the game to automatically construct a deck for you based on your desired parameters and card selections. Three points win a battle, and you get extra points for eliminating a Pokémon ex.

Solo Mode and Battle Guides

Go to Solo mode and launch the Battle Guides to get a feel for the game. Since you will be receiving items like X Speed and a Wigglytuff ex Rental Deck, it is advised that you finish guides 8–12. Step-up battles are divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

Additionally, there is an Expert Solo Mode where you take on decks of seven different types that get stronger over time. By performing specific tasks during the game, like using a strong or weak deck against the AI deck, avoiding point loss, or dealing 100 or more damage in a single attack, you can also earn shop tickets.

Cards and Decks

Not all deck essentials are available in booster packs; some are only available through the shop. Each trainer card costs just two shop tickets. There is no need to buy more than two of a card you want because you can only have two of each card in your deck.

You can use rental decks, which you can obtain by finishing Deck missions, to fight solo while amassing your collection. During the Wonder Pick tutorial, you will also receive a 1★ full art version of the starter you have selected. You can find Bulbasaur in the Mewtwo pack, Charmander is found in the Charizard pack, and Squirtle is found in the Pikachu pack.

Customisation and Levelling

By tapping on your icon on the top screen, you can alter your profile. Here, you can display achievements and emblems, view your battle record, showcase your card collection, and modify your username and icon. As you level up, you can get Poke Gold, Hourglasses, and a Rewind Watch. Opening booster packs, taking part in solo or random versus combat, and obtaining Wonder Picks are all ways to earn experience points.

Energy System

More intricate mechanics have been simplified in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and basic teaching resources aid new players in learning the game. Players select the kind and quantity of energy they wish to include in their deck in a typical TCG.

But in TCG Pocket, players can attach one energy to their Pokémon every turn from an energy reserve outside their deck. This makes it challenging to set up creatures that require multiple energy types because it frequently takes several turns. As a result, players should concentrate on creating decks that only contain one kind of Pokémon.
